About
About LitRPG Critic
LitRPG Critic is an editorial site covering LitRPG, progression fantasy, dungeon core, and GameLit fiction — the fast-growing subgenres where stats, skills, and leveling systems take center stage.
We publish ranked lists, sub-genre breakdowns, series reviews, and new release coverage. The goal is simple: help readers find their next great read in a genre that now produces hundreds of new titles every month across Amazon, Audible, and Royal Road.
Who Publishes This Site
LitRPG Critic is published by Pivot Press Publishing — the team behind LitRPGTools.com, the community tracking platform for LitRPG readers, and Harem-Lit.com. Pivot Press also publishes original LitRPG fiction, including titles by Aaron Renfroe, Sean Oswald, and David North.
We're transparent about this because it matters. Publishing in the genre gives us firsthand knowledge of how these books are made — and direct relationships with authors who care about quality. Our editorial standards reflect that.
Our Data
Rankings and book data — ratings, covers, author information, series metadata, and genre classifications — are sourced from LitRPGTools.com, which tracks thousands of titles across the genre using a combination of community ratings and editorial classification.
Most independent review sites can only cover books they've personally read — a few dozen titles at best. We have real data behind our rankings. Community ratings reflect genuine reader response, not editorial preference alone.
Editorial Independence & Pivot Press Titles
Because Pivot Press publishes books in the LitRPG genre, some titles from our imprint may appear in our ranked lists. We include them because we believe they belong there — not to the exclusion of the broader genre's best work. Every list is anchored by community ratings and will always include the most well-regarded titles regardless of who published them.
We do not accept paid placements or sponsored rankings. Lists reflect the data, the genre, and our editorial judgment — nothing else.
